Solar System (Inner Planets)
For my solar system project, I decided to focus only on the inner planets. Thus, I added the following planets (adding spheres, textures/materials, rotation behaviors, sound for each) beyond what was given in the tutorial:
- Mercury
- Venus
- Mars
Note that in order to make the distances meaningful, I used a NASA site as a reference (https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/pdfs/scaless_reference.pdf). I kept Earth at 2 units away, thus I just had to double the other distances. In order to make the sizes not so large, I decreased the size of each planet and used the reference guide to make the sizes appropriate to the size of Earth. I did not make the Sun in proper proportion to the other planets as otherwise it would be huge. I also tried to make the rotation effects somewhat reflective of the relative speed of each planet around the sun (but did not calculate this carefully for this project). I also changed the volume of the sound for each planet as I thought it was too loud based on the volume in the tutorial. I do not have a windows computer so I was unable to test the windows build.
